BrightsideUNIAID has
been launched as the new name for the education charity formed from the merger of The Brightside Trust and the UNIAID Foundation.
Having already worked together on a number of joint projects, the two charities joined forces in 2008 with a shared approach to supporting young people via online, independent information, advice and guidance. Following a successful integration period our new website (www.brightsideuniaid.org) went live this week, featuring our fresh branding and providing a hub for our great range of services to help young people make informed choices about education and employment.
Our projects and services come under three main strands:
The new website has a student portal, bringing together a range of online tools, games and resources about higher education, student finance and careers. We have also launched a new set of free downloadable teaching resources for schools, colleges and universities (based on UNIAID’s successful ‘UNIAID Interactive’ resource, developed with Aimhigher). These provide 20 activities about university and student finance, providing step-by-step instructions for facilitators and handouts for students and can be downloaded from: www.studentcalculator.org.uk/teachers
Tessa Stone, BrightsideUNIAID’s CEO says:
We know that young people want accessible, impartial information, particularly about their education options, money and careers. The merger has enabled us to provide an even more comprehensive range of services for young people and our partners, and the new website allows us to showcase everything we provide and make it easily accessible to as many people as possible.
